WASHINGTON, Aug. 11, 2010 — Iraqi security forces arrested six people today suspected of aiding al-Qaida in Iraq and the Promised Day Brigade terrorist group, military officials reported.
In Fallujah, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors arrested a suspected al-Qaida in Iraq member believed to have ties to the organization’s leadership, along with two alleged criminal associates.
In Diyala, Iraqi forces working with U.S. advisors arrested a suspected Promised Day Brigade leader who allegedly planned attacks against coalition forces. Two suspected criminal associates were arrested with him.
