12 October 2011 – London, UK — Defence IQ recently launched its 2012 International Armoured Vehicles programme, featuring a revamped look and new home at the FIVE in Farnborough. These changes are part of the major developments into expanding the event’s reach, as well as increasing the UK’s role hosting the international armoured vehicle community. Although International Armoured Vehicles has maintained its traditional stance as a meeting place between military and the major defence contractors, its platform this year has been noticeably altered to extend its reach and to accommodate small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Complementing the high-profile military presentations and debates, the event is expanding its dedicated “Innovation Stage” designed to facilitate direct communication between OEMs and SMEs on new vehicle programme requirements and innovative products, and introducing the all new G6 Industry Leaders Global Strategy Debate, an open conversation between 6 thought leaders from the defence industry on what they foresee as the future of armoured vehicles.
All of this goes hand in hand with the purpose of the show, to increase the influx of international military and industry leaders from the armoured vehicles community to the UK. Alongside military speakers representing both NATO and ISAF nations, as well as the Middle East, Asia and Africa, show organisers Defence IQ recently confirmed the UAE based defence manufacturer Tawazun, with additional industry partners including OshKosh, Nexter, Iveco, RUAG and Renault. Significantly, in line with the increased presence of international OEMs, the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry has partnered with the show, in efforts to support UK SMEs onsite.
The entire show, which comprises of a conference and exhibition hall, will take place at the FIVE in Farnborough, noticeably closer to the British Army’s heartland in England. In addition it will showcase the UK’s role as host to the international community, with opening and closing keynote speeches from Minister Peter Luff MP, Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, UK Ministry of Defence and General Sir Peter Wall, KCB, CBE, ADC Gen., Chief of the General Staff, British Army.
Complete event information is available on the event website at www.internationalarmouredvehicles.com. Applications for visitor passes to the exhibit hall are now being accepted; entrance fees to the exhibit hall are waived upon approval, however, conference pass fees will apply.
