BAGRAM, Afghanistan, Nov. 1, 2011 — Afghan and coalition forces killed three insurgents, detained eight people, and seized three weapons caches in operations across Afghanistan yesterday, military officials reported.
Two insurgents were killed after engaging coalition forces with indirect fire in the Bar Kunar district of Kunar province. Another insurgent was killed by coalition forces after engaging a convoy in the Watahpur district of Kunar province.
Afghan police detained five suspects in the Pul-e-Alam district of Logar province. Another person was detained after engaging Afghan and coalition forces with small-arms fire in the Gellan district of Ghazni province. Another person was detained after engaging coalition forces with small-arms fire in the Chak district of Wardak province.
Another person was detained by coalition forces in the Kushamond district of Paktika province.
In the Mandozai district of Khost province, Afghan soldiers confiscated a weapons cache containing a rocket-propelled grenade, an AT‑4 round and various MK-19 rounds.
Afghan soldiers seized a cache containing three mines and numerous machine-gun rounds in the Qarghaee district of Laghman province.
In the Shemal district of Khost province, coalition forces confiscated a 7.6 2mm ammunition belt, a shotgun and a small bag of hashish.
