Mid-life upgradation of the fleet is a continuous process and is undertaken to retain the combat relevance of the aircraft.
Contracts have been signed with M/s RAC MiG Russia for upgrade of the MiG-29 aircraft, with M/s Spets Techno Export, Ukraine, for upgrade of the AN-32 aircraft and with M/s Thales, France, along with M/s HAL, India, for upgrade of the Mirage 2000 aircraft. These contracts are under implementation.
Capability building as per the Long Term Plan of the Indian Air Force is being undertaken to meet the emerging security challenges. The capability building involves both upgradation of existing systems and platforms as well as induction of state of the art modern equipment.
