Orders made by the Judge Advocate

Orders per­tain­ing to the Pre-Tri­al Direc­tions Hear­ing for two Aus­tralian Defence Force mem­bers fac­ing charges before a Gen­er­al Court Mar­tial were issued by the Judge Advo­cate Gen­er­al on Tues­day, 29 March 2011 at Defence Plaza Syd­ney, 270 Pitt Street, Syd­ney.

Orders by Judge Advo­cate
I order:
1. Until such time as the mat­ter is con­sid­ered by the pres­i­dent of the court mar­tial, any mat­ter which is like­ly to lead to the iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of the accused men is not to be report­ed by those in the court and that in all hear­ings in the pro­ceed­ings that are open to the pub­lic the accused men are to be referred to by the fol­low­ing pseudonyms:

in the case of the first defen­dant as SGT J.
in the case of the sec­ond defen­dant as LCPL D.

2. Until such time as the mat­ter is con­sid­ered by the pres­i­dent of the court mar­tial that there be no pub­li­ca­tion of that mate­r­i­al form­ing Exhib­it 2, on the appli­ca­tion of 28 March 2011 oth­er than to the par­ties and the Com­mon­wealth and their respec­tive legal representatives.

A breach of an order is a pun­ish­able offence.
